Description of EDTA
EDTA is white powder, soluble in sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and ammonia solution, soluble in 160℃ boiling water, slightly soluble in cold water, insoluble in alcohol and general organic solvents.
Main Characteristic of EDTA:
1. a white crystal powder.
2. Its melting point is 240 °C(decomposition). Its dissolving degree in water is 0.5g/L (25°C).
3. It is insoluble in common organic solvents. soluble in boiling water 160 times as much, and soluble in alkali solvents like sodium hydroxide.

As an agent for complexation, EDTA is mainly used for water treatment, an additive to detergent,a chemical for photography, papermaking and oil-field. It is also used as detergent for boiler cleaning and reagent in chemical
analysis.
