Why not use absolute ethanol for disinfection in daily life ?
Because of the high concentration of anhydrous ethanol, a protective layer is formed on the surface of the bacteria. Ethanol is a non-polar molecule. After a protective film is formed, the alcohol cannot reach the inside of the bacteria and cannot be completely sterilized.
In the 75% ethanol that is usually used, water molecules are polar molecules, and water and ethanol can be mixed and dissolved in any ratio. Pure ethanol can smoothly enter the protein molecules inside the cells, and ethanol penetrates more smoothly and disinfects better.
